Whangamata Surf Life Saving Club launches ‘Life Saver’ raffle
Labour Weekend will bring more than just sunshine and beachgoers to Whangamata this year—it will also mark the launch of the Whangamata Surf Life Saving Club’s (WSLSC) Life Saver Raffle an exciting community initiative to help support the club’s brand-new building.
The Whangamata Surf Life Saving Club, a cornerstone of the community for generations, has recently undergone a major renovation. The transformation has created a modern, purpose-built hub designed to better serve lifesaving operations and community events. While the doors will open in time for Labour Weekend, the project still requires further funding to ensure the finishing touches are complete.
That’s where the Life Saver Raffle comes in. Sponsored by The Little Gallery, the raffle features a set of four individual “Life Saver Lolly Sculptures” by renowned artist Clint C. These vibrant, playful sculptures celebrate the spirit of summer and surf culture, while carrying a deeper message about lifesaving and community support.
The sculptures (30cm diameter each) will be on display at The Little Gallery Whangamata and the WSLSC where you can view the artworks up close and purchase your raffle tickets for $20 each to be in to win this set (valued at $1500).
Every dollar raised goes directly to the Surf Club, helping to cover the final costs of the renovation.
“Whangamata’s beach is at the heart of our town, and the Surf Club plays a vital role in keeping it safe,” says Faye Saunders owner of The Little Gallery. “We’re proud to support the club by providing these sculptures as prizes and we encourage the community to get behind the raffle.”
Club Manager Dianna says “We’re so grateful to The Little Gallery for supporting our club by running the Life Saver Raffle. Their generosity is helping us create a building the whole community can enjoy and be proud of.”
Make sure you secure your ticket and help support the future of the WSLSC.
Tickets $20 each will be drawn live Saturday 24th January at the WSLSC – winners will be notified and results published in Whangamata and Waihi News.
