Coromandel Art Gallery Opens in Auckland
The Little Gallery is excited to announce that we are opening a second art gallery in Auckland, letting Aucklanders experience the magic that is the Coromandel without leaving their back yard. Unique in having two branches of the same gallery, we envision The Little Gallery becoming not only a talking point, but an essential must visit destination for art lovers throughout the region.
Opening at Shop 30 in Victoria Park Market on the 2nd September 2016, The Little Gallery in Auckland will feature artwork from our current pool of local Coromandel artists, with a special focus on art suitable for the Auckland market. The majority of the work we’ll be bringing will be modern impressionist and abstract, with bold colours and lots of movement in the work. Appealing directly to Auckland art tastes, we look forward to seeing many of the stunning artworks from our gallery displayed in prominent positions in homes, offices, hotels and restaurants around the city.
Stocking an extensive range of prints and originals works of art, along with pottery and sculptures, the new gallery provides an opportunity for our local Coromandel artists to have their work displayed in Auckland, as well as in Tairua and on our gallery website. Having chosen the Victoria Park Market for their strong focus of and evolution into an artisan space, where designers share their craft as well as their products with their customers, we know we are in the right place! It is evolving into a destination for those who love art, unique design and one off pieces .
The new gallery will be run similarly to our Tairua gallery - it will be a co-operative. Artist volunteers will work with owner Sarah Holden to run the new Victoria Park Market gallery. Sarah planned to open an Auckland branch in a few years time once her twin boys were in school but when the opportunity to secure a space in the market appeared, Sarah grabbed it. Completely in love with the location, feel and look of both Victoria Park Market and her new gallery branch, Sarah is excited to become a permanent part of such a thriving artisan hub.
We are excited to offer our stable of artists the opportunity to expand their audience by exhibiting their work at our new Auckland based art gallery. Many of our artists have strong ties to the Coromandel but are currently not represented or have work exhibited within the Auckland region. As strong supporters of local artists, we are incredibly pleased we can now offer the opportunity for their work to be exposed to a larger audience.
Aucklanders who visited our gallery at the Coromandel but were unable to purchase artwork then, or even those who are unable to travel there, can now view the magnificent work we stock within their very own backyard. We understand that choosing artwork can be challenging, which is why we are sure that customers will love having multiple opportunities to view the beautiful artworks within their own region.
For more information on our artists, please enjoy reading a bit about their work and where they get their inspiration from on our Artists pages. Our website and social media accounts remain the same, making it easy to keep informed with the latest exhibitions and events we offer our artists and customers. We look forward to your visit!
