This screenprint is the second in the Trademark Series from high profile contemporary New Zealand print maker Arty Wright. Arty writes, "the Maori tiki is and always has been a powerful New Zealand icon. It has been used in the advertising of many of our manufactured products over the last century and into the 21st century. As in most other trademark images the artist of the design is unknown. These designs were hand drawn by artists with pencil, pen, brush and ink." Before being re-interpreted by Arty this tiki was the trademark of the Tiki Leather and Imitation Leather Goods Company of Wellington.
