One of a series on the old Kopu Bridge built in 1928 and now closed. It was a single-lane swing bridge spanning the Waihou River, at the Firth of Thames which caused major traffic jams in the summer.

It was always wonderful when the lights were at green on the old one lane Kopu bridge driving to the Coromandel.  The feeling was never the same heading home because we didn't really want to GO!
