Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print - Kate Hill
House blessing is a very ancient practice. Like most animals we have always been driven to protect our shelters and maintain a safe place of refuge using a range of techniques to do so - building enclosures and fences, planting rowan trees to placate the spirits as well as scratching inscriptions and prayers.
This work is almost an act of propitiation as it tries to highlight some of the ancient words once used to protect our homes.
Pax Intrantibus - Peace to those who enter
Salus Exeunitbus - Good health to those who depart
Benedicto Habitantibus - Blessings on those who abide
