Teri Parat is a NZ contemporary artist based in Auckland.  She works from her Mt Eden garden studio these days, having recently moved back to the city after six years residing on beautiful Waiheke Island.

There she fulfilled a dream of working as a full time artist following many decades working in the fashion industry. Her paintings reflect and showcase her love, passion and appreciation of good design.

Teri is known for her intricate portraiture, her striking subjects feature wide eyed women with mesmerising middle distance gazes which echo the past whilst holding a resolute viewpoint. Her floral compositions often displayed in large glass vases or vintage pots. The subtle technique in which Teri portrays the fragility of these works and their transient beauty has been honed over a career as a portrait and floral artist.

Teri paints in oils on fine cotton and often Belgian linen canvases, using a very fine brush technique.

She draws influence from a multitude of inspirations, amongst them fashion history and photography and classic portraiture from a bygone era
Teri has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand over the past thirty two years, both with solo and group exhibitions.
