Sue Foster

Sue’s artwork is mainly acrylic on canvas, although she has worked with watercolour in the past, and occasionally sketches with colour pencils.

“My art journey started as a school student in England; most of my family are creative and artistic, so I grew up surrounded by various arts and crafts.

I moved to New Zealand in the late 1990s, and was inspired by the light, the clarity, and vibrant colours of the stunning and diverse NZ landscape.

I love creating images that are familiar, iconic, typically NZ. I particularly enjoy painting the flora and fauna of this spectacular country.

Autumn is my favourite season, and you will see many of those warm, earthy colours and tones in some of my work.

Home is now Tairua, on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. Since retiring here in 2021, I have more time on my hands to get creative in my little art studio.”
