Hollie O’Neill is a New Zealand-born artist, based in Tamaki Makaurau / Auckland.
Working in abstract minimalism, O’Neill’s practice is inspired by the peaceful beauty of nature and how the light interacts with it.
Using her vibrant colour palette O’Neill works with mixed media, manipulating layers, blending pigments mixed with epoxy polymer, unveiling a luminous beauty and depth of colour. Her artwork captures the essence of light, colour, and emotion.
Hollie’s New Zealand Animal series uses colour to elevate each animal to an iconic status.
Recognised as a finalist in prestigious awards such as New Zealand's Parkin Drawing Prize and NZ Painting and Printmaking Award, also awarded
'Art in the Park' - ‘Eden Park Best in Colour Award’. Her works grace esteemed collections like The Arts House Trust Collection.
An artist since 2002. Education in fine art and design and a bachelor of teaching shaped her path, leading to roles in teaching and directing art programs. She paints full time from her East Auckland studio.
