Bernie Ross is a mixed flax and fibre artist. Born into a farming community in South Auckland, Bernie now lives in Whangamata, Coromandel, where the landscapes and constantly changing vistas continue to inspire her. The whenua or land is a pivotal part of Bernie's weaving practice, and she credits her early life in Auckland for the development of her strong values and appreciation for the environment.

Bernie completed her degree in Te Maunga kura Toi in 2013, after three previous years studying under Bibbins Tangitu in Tauranga Moana.
