Anita Gate

Artwork by Anita Gate

Auckland artist Anita Gate creates vibrant contemporary original New Zealand artworks that blend texture, storytelling and personality with a distinctly modern aesthetic. With more than two decades of artistic exploration, Anita’s work is influenced by her time living in Auckland, Sydney and Seoul, bringing a rich global perspective to her creative practice.

Her diverse collection spans striking resin florals layered with depth and luminosity, atmospheric urban street scene paintings immerse collectors in the pulse of vibrant city life, and expressive figurative works that capture emotion, movement and human connection.

Adding a playful signature to her portfolio is Anita’s much-loved ‘Poodle Punk’ series, inspired by her beloved poodle Ralph — a constant companion both in and beyond the studio. These vibrant, quirky poodle portraits combine humour, sophistication and bold colour, offering collectors a joyful and unmistakably unique style.

Predominantly self-taught, Anita has developed her artistic voice through years of experimentation, alongside studies at Te Tuhi and mentorship under respected artist Belinda Wilson. Her work continues to evolve through an intuitive balance of technical skill, texture and creative expression.

Represented by The Little Gallery in Whangamatā and Tairua, Anita Gate’s contemporary artworks are sought after by collectors who are drawn to colour, individuality and storytelling through art.
