Coromandel’s Famous Contemporary Art Gallery: The Little Gallery
Since 2013, The Little Gallery Tairua has gained a strong reputation as a leading contemporary art gallery and a must-see cultural destination in the picturesque Coromandel. With the opening of a second gallery in Whangamata in November 2017, The Little Gallery continues to offer a diverse, ever-changing range of original paintings, prints, sculptures, weaving, ceramics and more in Whangamata and Tairua.
Owned by Faye Saunders, a lover of all things art, under her capable guidance the galleries are operated with a team of local Coromandel and New Zealand Artists who volunteer in the galleries. Art lovers are afforded the unique opportunity to meet local artists and achieve new levels of understanding of the works exhibited from a first-hand perspective. If you are looking for things to do in Tairua or things to do in Whangamata then The Little Gallery is a must!
The Little Gallery is proud to represent a stable of over 50 established New Zealand artists and showcase the diversity of Coromandel talent. With the vast majority of exhibited artwork by local Coromandel artists or those with a strong affiliation to the region, a visit to the gallery offers a visual feast of New Zealand artwork; a creative experience never to be forgotten.
Members of the gallery's volunteer team include artists, Liz Hart, Michael Harrison, Jean McCann, Tina Carey, Jennifer Panther, Pauline Hooker, Susan Dunster and Kate Hill in Tairua, as well as Joanne Mahoney, Bernie Ross, Mardi O’Shea, in Whangamata.
With new artworks arriving every week and artwork rotating regularly, there is something for everyone and always something new to see.

A delightful range of artworks, a visual feast with variety and interest in every piece. The staff are fabulous, and it’s great to speak directly to some of the artists themselves. This gallery has to be visited when you are in Tairua and it’s environs.
