Ata ti Matariki
Ata ti Matariki (Dawn at Matariki) is an original weaving by local Whangamata weaver Bernie Ross.
The shape of this piece is that of a miniature kakahu (cloak). The tanniko (top piece) is woven in a contemporary pattern to represent a set of waves Bernie sees on her morning walks with the dogs.
The body is made from Pokinikini (flax tubes). They are individually coloured to reflect those vibrant morning skies that are so prevalent at the moment.
A stunning piece that would be a fabulous addition to any collection.
